So, a first post to kick this thing off...

What's your favourite scary story? Creepypasta, childhood ghost stories, and full-fledged horror novels all count. Which one stops you sleeping at night?

I have to say, not a lot creeps me out. But this one does:

yeah, I can watch horror movies till my brain bleeds and not feel at all scared by them, but I still sometimes check under the bed before I go to sleep!

Ohh, that one used to creep me out when I was little. The version I first heard had the writing on the mirror as "SO WHAT LICKED YOUR HAND?" and it seriously gave me the shivers. XD

The Reflection didn't creep me out at all, until I moved to house that actually has sliding glass doors. Now I always get slightly freaked out if I go into that room alone at night and look at the doors...

haha I think that happened in Scream. or Scream 2. I think it would probably freak me out some, if I had glass sliding doors though.

Haha, I always feel like such an idiot for being creeped out by them! I think it's partly the rather-creepy idea that someone could look in and see me but I couldn't see them because the glass just acts like a two-way mirror at night.. and partly just the OH GOD SOMETHING'S BEHIND ME factor. ;)

Scary Stories to Tell In the Dark will always be my favorite. Probably because it was the first horror book series I read/had read to me. I remember in first grade, I would always look forward to going to class because of that. The teacher would shut the door and the blinds, then turn of the lights. What scared me wasn't the stories themselves, but the pictures. The drawings always scared me more than the stories ever did.

I've never read that book, but I've seen the pictures scanned on the internet. I think they would've scared the hell out of me when I was little - that artist has an interesting style.

I own that book along with More Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. :) One of my fondest childhood memories is of spending the night with my cousins and staying up late with the lights out, reading stories from those books. I agree that while the stories were creepy, what really scared me were the drawings. I've grown to love the art in them now that I'm older.

I thinkThe Other Watcher will always be my ultimate favorite. I've told it irl a billion times and it still creeps me out if I read it too late at night.

I'm terrible at picking favorites of anything, but the last thing to keep me up all night was Ruby Quest.
